Things to remember when considering dropping a course:
- Does my intended major require 30 credit hours before being eligible for matriculation/intra-campus transfer?
- It takes 30 credit hours to officially become a sophomore and to get to register with the sophomore class (60 for Junior status, 90 for Senior)
- You may not drop below 12 hours (i.e., below fulltime status in a regular semester) without your department's permission-- you should contact your advisor immediately if you are considering this.
- You may not drop all of your classes on MyPack Portal. You would need to see the counseling center for a current semester withdrawal if you wish to drop all courses in a current term.
- Keep in mind that if you're close to a 2.00 GPA and over 60 hours, a poor grade could lead to immediate suspension. If you're slightly above a 1.8 GPA and below 60 hours, a poor grade could lead to immediate suspension. Speak with your advisor about the suspension policy.

Things to remember when switching a course to credit only:
- WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PE, Credit Only courses will not count toward specified degree requirements-- credit only courses can only be free electives. (Exceptions include courses like E 101 which are only offered credit only)
- Credit Only courses do not affect your GPA (positively or negatively)-- you will simply receive an 'S' or a 'U' in place of a grade.
- You still need to earn a C- or better in a credit only course in order to receive credit (S); anything below a C- becomes a 'U' with no credit
- Though your NCSU GPA will remain unaffected by credit only courses, graduate and professional schools (e.g., master's programs, law school, med school, etc.) will recalculate your GPA and count 'U' grades as 'F's in your GPA.
